Good evening North Texas Collegiate Academy parents, this is Mr. Dix, Principal of East Campus. I have our weekly announcements. Our character trait of the the week is FLEXIBILITY! If you plan on having your student attend NTxCA next year, please be sure that you fill out the online Pre-Enrollment form so that your student's seat gets saved for the next school year. Also, don't forget to tell your neighbors, friends, and family about us as well! Mark your calendars because we have our district soccer tournament at our South Campus in Lewisville on Saturday, April 22nd, from 8:00 am to noon. Also, we have soccer practice for middle school students this week from 4:00 to 5:15 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Parents of students in 3rd through 8th grade, do you have any questions about the upcoming STAAR Tests that your student will be taking soon? Are you wondering why it is important or what you can do to help your student get prepared? Well, I am happy to tell you that we are having a Zoom STAAR Test Parent Informational Meeting on April 4th at 6:00 pm. Please plan on attending this Zoom meeting! I want to remind all parents that daily attendance at school is critical. Please make sure your student is at school every day on time to avoid truancy. NTxCA follows all Denton County attendance guidelines. If your child has unexcused absences, you will receive an Attendance/Truancy Warning letter and you will be required to attend a mandatory meeting with the principal. Parents, if you would like your students to get extra work in math and reading, have them log into Zearn Math, ST Math, and Amplify Reading at home. Hello North Texas Collegiate Academy parents, this is Mr. Dix, Principal of East Campus. Picture Day is this Friday, March 10th. Students are required to wear their school uniform and we will be taking whole group class pictures. You can pay for the class picture with cash or check (made out to Henington School Services) for $15 in the envelope that was sent home. You can also pay online by following the instructions on the envelope. You will have the opportunity to purchase individual student pictures in the near future. Don't forget, this Thursday, March 9th, is our Spring Open House Pre-Enrollment event from 6:00-7:30 pm! Invite your family, friends, and neighbors to our campus to get information about our school and to get your students enrolled for the next school year. Please plan on attending so that you can save your student's seat for next school year. This Wednesday, groceries will be arriving at the district office for families in need. If your family is in need of groceries, you must call the front office by 2:00 pm on Tuesday so that we can have them ready for you on Wednesday afternoon. If you prefer, you also have the option of picking up groceries in person in Denton. Please call the front office at 972-292-3562 for more details. As stated in our Lunchtime Live Facebook on Friday, during the school day we will now be offering free mental health support and counseling through UT Southwestern Pediatric and Children's Health, with parent consent only. More information will be available at our Spring Open House Pre-Enrollment event, and it will start when we come back from Spring Break. After months of work with the Town of Little Elm, our planned development and rezoning for construction should be finalized at this Tuesday's city council meeting. We hope to offer positive updates following the meeting, as this will mean our construction can finally move forward. I want to remind all parents that daily attendance at school is critical. Please make sure your student is at school every day on time to avoid truancy. NTxCA follows all Denton County attendance guidelines. If your child has unexcused absences, you will receive an Attendance/Truancy Warning letter. When students miss 2 or more days in one week, it triggers a Truancy Warning letter that includes a scheduled time for you to meet with the principal. This can be done anytime your students are not at school. This week is the last week of school before spring break, which is from March 13th-March 17th. This Thursday, March 2nd is Read Across America Day for all PK through 1st grade students. We invite our parents, grandparents, or any other community members to stop in and read to our students. Congratulations to the following NTxCA teachers who earned designations through the Teacher Incentive Allotment and are in the top 15% of teachers in the state! These designations are good for 5 years and come with financial incentives up to $32,000 per year in addition to base salary!

Thank you to all who participated in learning activities and also for sharing on Facebook last week. Remember parents, your students can get extra work in Zearn Math, ST Math, Amplify Reading, and Edgenuity for our middle schoolers anytime they are not at school. This Wednesday, groceries will be arriving at the district office for families in need. If your family is in need of groceries, you must call the front office by 2:00 pm on Tuesday so that we can have them ready for you on Wednesday afternoon. February is Black History Month and we have an event scheduled for February 15th from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. It is our Black History Month Gallery Walk. This is a come and go event and those who attend will get to experience a combination of art and history down our main building halls telling the story of Black History in our country. You won't want to miss it. This is a reminder for all After School Program parents and students; All students must follow all school rules from 3:30-6:00 pm during our after school program. Students who receive two discipline write ups will be dismissed from the program. I want to remind all parents that daily attendance at school is critical. Don't forget, we are continuing our attendance competition so please be sure to get your student to school on time every day so that they have a chance of winning some cool prizes, and more importantly so that they will not miss any learning.
